Beyond Belief, BBC Radio 4: Cultural Religiosity, 22 April 2025

This episode of Beyond Belief, hosted by Anglican priest Giles Fraser, features a fascinating discussion on cultural religiosity. The panel includes Giles Coren, who was raised in the Jewish tradition, became an atheist, and now says he feels at home in a Christian church; Michael Rosen, poet, author, and co-author of What is Humanism? How do you live without a god? And Other Big Questions for Kids; and Kate Smurthwaite, a feminist, atheist comedian and activist, and a patron of Humanists UK. Also joining the conversation is Justin Brierley, author of The Surprising Rebirth of Belief in God and host of the accompanying podcast series..

Andrew Copson addresses the Equalities Commission on Faith Schools, 22 April 2025

Humanists UK have published two video clips of Chief Executive Andrew Copson addressing the Equalities Commission on the effect of religion and faith schools on social cohesion. The full committee session, which is well worth a view, can be viewed on Parliament TV. Dr Sukhwant Dhaliwal of Southall Black Sisters also participates. Her contribution immediately precedes Andrew’s and their discussion begins at 5:05:3. They are both then questioned by members of the committee. Ted Cantle, a public policy and social cohesion adviser, also contributes.
