What if a human being was a car
You wanted to be driven safe and well,
Yet still expressed something of what you are
Or what life-story you’d want it to tell?
Excitement, thrills, and speeding without fears
Are what might be the reasons that you drive,
Pushing hard upwards through the gears –
Rejoicing, feeling totally alive.
But you behind the wheel bring in a brain:
A humanistic tendency to thought –
(To touch the brake ev’ry now and again)
That ushers-in a notion we’ve called ought.
Emotions are what human beings find
Are at their best when managed by a mind.
