Andy Burnham became Prime Minister of the United Kingdom on 20 July 2026, succeeding Keir Starmer to become the UK’s 59th holder of the office. Before entering Downing Street, he served as Mayor of Greater Manchester, where he won praise for bringing the region’s buses back under public control. He has also been closely associated with efforts to end rough sleeping and, as one of his first national transport measures, introduced a £2 cap on bus fares across England. This cartoon imagines what might happen if all of Britain’s problems could be solved simply by climbing aboard the “Andy Burnham Bus”.

I reckon the cartoon error is that our new PM seems to have two right arms and hands. With the size of his inbox, an extra limb won't do him any harm at all 😆
I for one will benefit from the bus saving... so so far, he's doing well.
